I'm bright, sincere, affectionate, and always go the extra mile. I'm seeking a lasting and loving bond. Your/our kids would be great.
Originally from a small Minnesota town, I'm a 7 sisters grad and have lived in NYC for 26 yrs. (Soho, East Village, Brooklyn).
I love the beach, art, theater, film, reading, dining out, gardening (when I have some dirt), Dress Circle box seats at the MET, walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, ballet class, parties where I can get up and dance.
I want to be to be amused by one sweet, brainy, exceptional, earnest and generally adorable guy.
My past relationships: What have I learned from past relationships? Lather, rinse and repeat.
My Ideal Person:
An abundance of warmth, tenderness, repartee, amusement, bemusement, giggling, ardor, challenges and mutual support. And, of course, the zowie factor. Once we've moved through these stages, we start again at the beginning.
When you find me, your heart sings "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life" -- or maybe a little James Brown.
You are brilliant, witty, earnest, creative, warm and affectionate, with an interest in cultural pursuits. You're industrious about your work or studies. You like to read.
It's a plus if you have some success as a writer or journalist or chef, but it's also great if you are a professional who can refinish a piece of furniture, play the harmonica, cook, etc. I can probably learn something about music or writing or wine just by hanging around you.
You are perceptive, articulate and discerning, but not overly negative or narrow in your tastes. You have favorite haunts (high and low), but you like to explore and you're always finding new ones. You enjoy sharing dessert and appreciate a few creature comforts and you're not ashamed of it.
You are non-religious and politically on the liberal side.
You look adorable rumpled, but you own at least one suit and tie (preferably, not a clip-on from the Jerry Garcia collection).
You're endearing. You're huggable.
While it's ok to stay cozy at home sometimes and it's ok for you to be in a bad mood once in a while, you should not be the type who sighes a lot and drapes yourself about your apartment like a forlorn lost sock.
It's really ok if you have some flaws to balance out even just a FEW of mine.
You're kind of a wiseass.
That's Hot: I'm kind of partial to banter, strong stands, receding hairlines, glasses, kinda-cool dorks.
I'm looking for someone who makes me really want to get to know him. That means someone kind, passionate, who keeps my brain stimulated and entertained. I don't need to date just to fill the chair across from me at dinner.
The last great book I read At the moment, I'm reading The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.
Not a book, but Chast's In a Quandary, where the Voice of Reason, the Voice of Conscience, the Voice of Practicality, and the Voice of Binky vie for your soul and your galoshes.
My most humbling moment How many times a day can I update this?
Favorite on-screen sex scene Pride and Prejudice (BBC), The Lover, Sea of Love, The Nature of Sex (PBS series). George Bailey dropping the receiver with Sam Wainwright still on the end of the line. George Clooney taking off his socks (I may have dreamed that one). And, of course, Rhett whisking Scarlet up those stairs. Reenactments of the above. (Don't worry, I won't make you carry me. Besides, I'll probably be doing most of the whisking.)
The celebrity I resemble the most Twice, I was told Lauren Bacall. THAT was pretty flattering (presumably, they meant her pre-catfood voiceover days)! A former colleague and a couple of teen-age boys on the street sang the Wonder Woman theme to me. (I often wear boots and I'm not afraid to lift heavy objects.) Full disclosure: I've also gotten Chelsea Handler, Sharon Stone, Sheryl Crow, Carmen Electra, Carly Simon, Greta van Susteren and Jenny McCarthy. Does this mix make ANY sense?!
The best or worst lie I've ever told It's just two more blocks. Right around the corner. Just a little further. But we're ALMOST there.
If I could be anywhere right now Afloat in warm, turquoise waters so clear we can see our feet.
Five items I can't live without Opposable thumbs. Love/hope. A spine. Forgiveness. Humor. Indulgence. Ivory soap. (Yes, I can count, but see supra.)
Fill in the blank: _____ is sexy; _____ is sexier. Minty fresh breath is sexy; a fresh mouth is sexier!
In my bedroom one will find... You'll always get up on the right side of the bed. (In my last apartment, the bed was in the corner, but it's still true.)
