A fallen Siberian princess. Obsessed with what I do; a book nerd, insane enough to think that literature matters in this world of dollars and oil barrels. There I said it. In love with my family of cross-continental vagabonds, dreamers and troubadours. Almost completely fearless, but sometimes cries at the movies (on the couch, not the movie theater) Loves running (in the park, on a Hawaiian beach, on the Alaskan trails - a moose in my way is no obstacle - on the edge of a volcano) Likes: flora and fauna (especially cats, yes), drinking hot coffee through a straw, indie music and a few oldies, Tchaikovsky. Dislikes: laziness, rudeness, close-mindedness, smelly dogs.
My Ideal Person:
Someone who has their life more or less together, or is on the way there. Life sense of humor, which is a bit different from the regular cracking-a-joke-from-time-to-time kind, though I like that one too. Intelligence, but not condescension. Optimism, endless curiosity in reading, doing and watching; low maintenance; love of travel and bravery in every day life. The Chemistry. Please don't be the kind of person who sits on the couch all day long watching TV/playing video games and drinking 40s of beer. Not All Day long. Sounds like a lot, but hey.
The last great book I read Books should leave one breathless. It doesn't happen often. Pnin (or anything)by Nabokov The Emigrants by W.G.Sebald Fathers and Sons by Turgenev The Dream Life of Sukhanov by Olga Grushin Sincerely Yours, Shurik by L. Ulitskaya The Testament of Gideon Mack by James Robertson (the devil makes an appearance in Scotland!) Master and Margarita by Bulgakov (the devil makes an appearance in Moscow!) Platform by Michel Houellebecq Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky David Foster Wallace's nonfiction Kelly Link, Sana Krasikov, Sylvia Plath, Salinger, Makine, Updike's short stories I could go on, I kind of like reading...
If I could be anywhere right now anywhere with family; on a Turkish beach; Florence; somewhere new; actually, here's pretty good too.
Five items I can't live without iPhone (w books on the Kindle/stanza app and iPod); Mac; coffee; sunglasses --> this sounds pretty boring, eh
