I love my job and am very dedicated, but I don't let it consume me. I believe in balancing my life with friends, family and activities outside of teaching. I don't think all relationships need to be serious, but I tend to prefer a small group of friends who I have a real connection to than a lot of friends who I can party with, but wouldn't call if I needed something.
I see myself as an easy going person with a sense of humor. I can be serious and have strong opinions about different topics, but also believe in hearing what others have to say.
My Ideal Person:
I want you to be happy with who you are and what you do. You should be loyal to your friends and family. Although having similar interests is important diversity is good too. I enjoy learning new things and trying new experiences. I want you to be comfortable in your own skin and care enough to tell me when you think I'm wrong and have the maturity to admit when you are. Honesty and trust are very important qualities in my relationships.
Since some people viewing my profile seem to have difficulty understanding what I am looking for I feel it now necessary to go the negative route and explicitly spell out what I don’t want in hopes of limiting time being wasted as well as points and just general frustration and aggravation.
WHAT I AM NOT LOOKING FOR:
1) Men old enough to hang out with my 50+ uncles and now deceased grandfather.
2) Men 25 years and older who on their profiles start their preferred age range at 18 years and then actually try to justify it by saying they don’t want to be discriminatory. In my profession (teaching) we consider this pedophilia.
3) Men who won’t even date women their own age.
4) Men with no photo, a single photo of themselves with sunglasses and a hat or who try to pass off photos of famous musicians as their own. Don’t tell me you don’t know how to upload a photo -learn. Bottom line: If the physical attraction isn’t there it is not going to work.
5) Men who won’t state their profession and then when asked either say they would then have to kill me or lecture me on the ways of the Europeans who feel it is a rude question to ask. Last time I checked this was America.
6) Men who are allergic to children and cats.
7) Men who don’t care if I smoke, drink, do drugs, have a 5th grade education and am unemployed as long as my body type is slim, petite or athletic.
 Men who resort to “family emergency excuses”(i.e. father went into the hospital last night, my sister was just diagnosed with cancer etc.) when they have f***ed up and can’t admit it.
9) Men who feel very uncomfortable with East and West Harlem. I work in East Harlem and make no apologies for it.
10) Men who have just read all of this and now think I am a bitch.
